Kanna Curry House

Every time I see a long queue at a banana leaf rice outlet, I always wondered, “what’s up with the overpriced rice on a banana leaf?”. It’s reputation didn’t get any better when the banana leaf rice stall in my office building taste bad. I never thought I will like Kanna Curry House at Seksyen 17 PJ, but accident does happens.

Kermit must like banana leaf rice like me.

I wasn’t too enthusiastic when during one office team lunch (perks of working in my ex-company), someone suggested Kanna Curry House. Every one agreed, except me, so what else can I did but followed? It wasn’t easy to get a parking, so be ready to walk a little further, or someone on your team has to sacrifice, by dropping you off at its shopfront and he alone, will search for a parking space. Good luck to the unfortunate one. 🙂

Although the premise is huge, occupying 2 shoplot (with one of them air-conditioned), you might have to sit outdoor, under the shady trees, if you reached here late during lunch hour peak. This is how famous and bustling Kanna Curry House’s business is.

Kanna Curry House’s ordering system intrigued me. Its staffs will come around and by the time I finished blinking, they had laid the faux-banana-leaf, topped with plain rice and three other things in front of me. They were the basic set, although no one answered me, if this set is compulsory to order? I don’t particularly like these ‘side dishes’.

Next, another staff arrived at our table and put their signature sauces/condiments on our table and followed by the papadam.

Then, I smelled something. The smell of deep-fried seafood was alluring, and next thing we knew, we had ordered mutton curry, chicken masala, fried stingray, fried mackerel and fried chicken. Boss was paying, anyway 🙂 .

Fried chicken topped my favourite dish for the day, it was succulent and very rich in flavour from the spices. Fried stingray tasted better than mackerel for having the juiciest big chunk of meat, free from fish bones. Mutton curry is soft and tasty. My colleagues like the chicken masala, but I thought it has more mushy things in it rather than meat.

I topped and topped my rice, cause I really love the chicken and fish. Yeah, you got it, I fall in love with Kanna Curry House and while I am writing this… I seem to smell fried chicken. That’s Kanna Curry House calling me. Adios!
