Weekend brunch is becoming a habit for us, an unhealthy one but sure is a way to enjoy a good weekend. I had been to The Good Batch before for a gathering and the meal and coffee had been quite satisfying so I thought CS will like this place. He, on the other hand was contemplating whether to revisit Epicuro again for its delicious pork sausages. But dear, I have to blog, right?
In order to eat here, the very first daunting task, was to write our name on their log and wait until our names were called for available seat. This place is ‘hot’ on weekends and there’s a policy of no seat-change once we sat down.
It was almost all grey and black in The Good Batch with a good amount of sun light stealing into the loft-like establishment. All good except for one thing – I forgot how noisy the place can be. Most people came here for gathering and chit-chating is inevitable but imagine everyone was talking at the same time, trying to drown other’s voice at the same time.
I place order for the exact thing I had on previous visit – a pretty looking Norwegian which was two poached eggs sandwiched between bread and smoked salmon, topped with Hollandaise sauce. Maybe I was wrong, or my mood was in the wrong swing, the Norwegian didn’t taste as good as last time. The smoked salmon didn’t taste smokey enough.
As a guy with insatiable appetite, ‘The Ang Moh’ became the natural choice is CS with its amount of meat and protein. Being a scrambled egg lover, the eggs here scored less for having bigger curds and more springy texture than what he would like. Yes, CS is THAT particular about eggs. We love the Portobello mushroom for being flavourful without over-cooked although the accompanying ham was too salty.
As with any brunch or big breakfast set in Klang Valley, a meal for two easily added up to more then RM60, even without drinks so eating big brunches are actually an expensive habit to keep. We decided to tone down on our brunch adventures till we find cheaper options.
