Being the food blogger that I am, organizing a gathering always naturally falls into my hands – family trip, ex-course mates dinner get-together, old friends gathering and recently a meetup with my ex-colleagues who had all kissed GCH good bye. I am the last one to leave GCH and they were excited to know my well-being in new company. Grandmothers’ stories aside, one of my new colleagues had recommended Kelvyna Cafe as I was looking for somewhere less crowded for unlimited gossip time.
Kelvyna Cafe was perfect for a quiet venue, hidden amongst residential area behind Giant Hypermarket Kelana Jaya at PJ 5 Soho building. I can see it was clearly catered for office worker in the building and was completely serene on a Sunday. The bad side was, their staffs were down to two, and the cook was certainly overwhelmed by twelve of us.
Uncertain about their coffee, we decided on flat white that turned out creamy enough but with very strong bitter aftertaste.
This over simplistic dish was Chicken Chop with Fries. I know, I was under the impression too that it was going to taste awful but was told (it’s not my order) it was alright.
The blue dish sort of diminished my appetite although CS rated the fish and chip as crispy and good but the salad and fries looked a little like hawker fares.
And the big breakfast addict went for the breakfast set, which I like the ham roll and run-of-the-mill sausage. Then again, I could be biased as I practically love all processed meat.
It actually took 2 hours before Yvonne got her chicken sandwich.
With young kids on tow, a dessert or two is inevitable and the young judge gave it a ‘good’ verdict.
