For anyone going to Hua Hin, you are blessed! Blessed with plentiful of accommodation choices at Hua Hin all at a click away (on your mouse). I can vouch on that. When I was browsing for hotel at Hua Hin, a lot of holiday rentals pops up, all comes in tastefully decorated furnishings. Some even offer ‘seaview’ and ‘a few metres away from Hua Hin beach’. I was apprehensive at first especially with the prices of less then 1500Bht per unit but decided to jump in anyway since we had splurge for our hotel in Bangkok. We picked Baan Peang Ploen condominium, a studio unit
To be honest, Baan Peang Ploen was a shut-my-eyes-and-point decision since every holiday rental look so good. My first impression was great. Baan Peang Ploen turned out to be a high end condominium project by Sansiri group. Its contemporary architecture reminisce of old style Hua Hin vacation home surrounded by lush garden.
The security guards were helpful and showed us to our parking space and the moment we got off the car, we couldn’t help but rushed into the photo craze. I love the open plan lobby that welcomed us and overjoyed by the large swimming pool.
I knew this is an ideal place for us to unwind when we got our key and made our way into the concourse of building. We admired the elegant interiors, again, evoking an old Siam home ambience further detailed by the vintage fan. CS felt like a king sitting on the suspended lounge chair.
All these just for the concourse!! If we had stayed longer, we would have hang around here a lot, happily reading a book and sipping from a coffee cup, although I am not sure if food is allowed. I can’t imagine the time they spent into all these details. Even the mail pigeon holes were hidden from plain sight with pretty wooden panels.
Our studio unit, on the other hand, exudes another kind of vibe.
Like the concourse, it was mainly gray, white and blue, but the rustic feeling were replaced with maritime theme. The blue hue is stronger and most of the decorating small pieces were about sea – pictures of whale, ship’s wheel etc.
We had no problem buying some simple ready-to-cook item from the supermarkets and had a feast at Baan Peang Ploen. The studio felt so homely, even equipped with the microwave, big fridge, kitchenette, kettle, dining table and utensils.
The bathroom was probably the plain Jane compared to the rest of the unit, but nonetheless, clean and equipped with instant water heater.
The only downside of this condominium was it was further south from Hua Hin town centre and a transportation will be required to get to the famous night market. However, there is a 7-Eleven store a few metres away, and some unpretentious local eateries and small thai massage shops if you do not want to drive. Although our unit has no view of the sea, the Khao Takiab is just 5 minutes walk away.
Oh, just one more downside, as this is not a hotel, we cannot expect to be serviced by the staff except for maintenance problem. The staff were simply condominium staff and act as someone who pass the key from the unit owner to us (think BnB). No food service, no breakfast (in fact, there’s no restaurant), no drinking water replenishment and… no toilet paper. Luckily I always bring a lot of tissue papers when I travel. We extended our stay for another 2 hours by calling the owner himself. He was obliging and allowed us for late check out.
We booked for Baan Peang Ploen via Booking.com for 1300Bht per night at the time. Our unit was Vintage B818 but you might want to check other units with different decor too. Check for rates and availability.
