Food Hunt in Bentong – Wanton Noodles

2 weeks ago, our food hunt extended to Bentong, which I’ve not been there since my last and first visit in 2001. I did some research online and noted Kow Po ice cream and Phoon/Leong Yew kopitiam for its wanton noodles, and a few other eateries.

When we reached there, I just realized that food hunting in Bentong is not really that easy, afterall. Even though we already have the address and the names of the shop we’re targetting, most of the shops do not have a proper signboard. It took us a while to search for the famous Chui Yin street (which has the most nice food along the street). Unable to to find Phoon/Leong Yew kopitiam, we tried out the wanton noodles in this shop, which is without signboard right beside the Chinese City Hall.

The white coffee was quite smooth and aromatic with slight coffee bitterness.

We’re glad the noodles were handmade noodles (not ‘sang min’) and tangy. The wanton noodles were pretty good and CS said it was better than most of the wanton noodles in Klang Valley. Hmm… maybe I should search for some good Klang Valley wanton noodles soon. Like Batu Pahat, its Char Siew were more reddish in color so it’s not much of a trouble for us to accept them.
