Laem Hin is another hidden restaurant in Phuket, just like Ban Rong but with a more established property. We decided to make a stop here on our way to airport even though our stomach is full of breakfast, some sticky mango rice and a big cup (as big as the biggest Slurpie) of latte from 7 Eleven that we had earlier. That wasn’t too much, right?
Our plan was not to have a big lunch but pick 2 or 3 dishes just to know how well does Laem Him fare. As we haven’t try any lala in Phuket, I couldn’t resist ordering a bowl of lala in soup with lemongrass. I thought the lala will be big, but they turned out large and juicy.
Different from our usual lala in soup/broth, the lala were cooked with plenty of lemon grass instead of ginger. The soup could be easily bland but due to the overflowing freshness of the lala, it was tasty. Lemon grass has never taste this good alone.
CS had been searching for oyster omelet for days, to reminisce the good ones in Bangkok but this proved to be a mistake. The smaller oysters were out of stock, so the waitress recommended we take the bigger oyster at 300 baht per dish (normal price is 200 baht). The oysters were big but the omelet was gooey and almost tasteless. It left a whole lot of gummy bittertaste that won’t stop lingering in our mouth afterwards.
