Remember how I criticized Gobo Chit Chat for serving an awful butter milk crab? Given that, it’s only befitting that I should nominate a good place for butter milk crab, which is none other than Wong Poh Seafood. To date, it still serves the best butter milk crab in Klang Valley, in my opinion. Hence, exactly a week after the dreadful crab buffet, we paid Wong Poh Seafood a visit just to order our usual fare.
After a year of absence from this place, the crabs had became pricier, smaller but still considerable size, yet the taste is still that good. The butter milk remains creamy, with a dash of spiciness from the bird eyes’ chilies.
The crab is best eaten with the fried buns dipped into the hot butter milk. It’s easy to skip the rice with these.
The Squid with Salted Egg Yolk used to taste good but this time around, we thought it’s a little bit lacklustre for not being crispy.
And what kind of food blogger will missed out taking photo of one of the dishes? Me. Guilty. We actually ordered a Hot Plate tofu which was palatable although I burned my tongue while eating impatiently. That explains it. I burnt my tongue and I forgot to take photo. Excuses, excuses.
As mentioned earlier it’s now pricier to have a meal at Wong Poh and the bill for two of us came up to RM117, with the crabs priced at RM85 per kg. Back in 2005, we paid only RM35 per kg for them. Still, I would rather have my money well-spent here than to fall victim to so-called “crab buffets” ever again.
